(PAUSE PLAYLIST ON RIGHT FIRST...however, it just became the first song on my playlist)
I had forgotten HOW MUCH I loved this movie and the soundtrack...there are a couple more songs from the movie on my playlist...until I saw it on TV today. When I saw George Clooney lipsinking this wonderful song by Dan Tyminski, I jumped up to post it.
If any of you haven't seen "O Brother, Where Art Thou", I highly recommend it! The Cohen Brothers sure have a quirky sense of humor, which is right up my alley.
Also, this movie is based on "The Odyssey" by Homer, hence the sirens...

And the tide rushes in...AKA...Welcome, President Obama

{I created this post a few days ago, but held off on posting for fear it was too inflammatory so soon after the inauguration. I decided to go ahead with it since President Obama officially signed the "Mexico City Policy" today...}
First things first. I am going to miss the "Bushisms" that we have enjoyed over the last 8 years. Ahh, good times... Having said that, I am glad this country finally has an African-American president. (We aren't supposed to say "black" anymore, are we? Although, as my co-worker pointed out to me, he is "Mixed", rather than "Black". Calling him "Black" is an affront to his white mother. I can't keep up with all the political correctness...) But an historic moment? MOST DEFINITELY!
Now, here comes the bad news...
First of all, Barack H. Obama may very well be an illegally elected president. Now before you all start throwing stones at me, hear me out. (Don't forget, we all said Dubya stole the election the first time. Remember?) Some of you may not be aware that there are several movements afoot to have him produce his actual birth certificate. He hasn't. The one the Democratic Party posted online during the campaign is NOT a legal birth certificate. There is a strong possibility the reason he hasn't just produced the darn thing is because he can't without proving the fact that he wasn't born in the United States. Kenya, actually. Remember this post? The topic of the country of his birth is why the gentleman shown in the post (Jerome Corsi) was detained in Kenya...a fact finding tour that the Kenyan government thought should be halted, and was. Oh well, what's a little constitutional discrepancy among friends, right? Here is just one of the MANY links you can find if you research the topic.
But hey, that is old news and is going to be a moot point. Apparently the Supreme Court doesn't consider the possibility that the Constitution was disobeyed as something to actually look into. Let's move on.
CNN reported today (Monday) that: "Obama may quickly reverse abortion policy"
The article states, "Obama's second full day as president falls on the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion in the United States. The sources said Obama may use the occasion to reverse the "Mexico City policy" reinstated in 2001 by Bush that prohibits U.S. money from funding international family planning groups that promote abortion or provide information, counseling or referrals about abortion services. It bans any organization receiving family planning funds from the U.S. Agency for International Development from offering abortions or abortion counseling."
Well, today he did reverse it: Link
Can we be talking about population control here?
"President Bush has revoked funding for the UNFPA every year during his administration for violating a U.S. law prohibiting sending public funds to groups that promote forced abortions.
The Obama campaign, in an October 2007 response to a survey from the pro-abortion RH Reality Check web site, confirmed the presidential candidate would restore funding to the controversial group.
"Yes, Senator Obama would overturn the global gag rule and reinstate funding for UNFPA," Obama's campaign responded."
What is UNFPA, you ask? It is the United Nations Population Fund.
Taken from the UNFPA website:
"Viet Nam debates two child policy
Radio Australia reported on 21 November that Vietnam's government is considering a return to a two child policy in an attempt to control population growth."
The reason I veered off from the abortion issue to population control is that I am just trying to point out how terribly wrong the world's governments have become. Once again. We know there is nothing new under the sun and the world has seen really bad times before. We know it because the Bible says, "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man." {Luke 17:26}
Don't get me wrong. I am praying for our new President. I am hoping against hope that he will become Godly, wise and lead us in the "way in which we should go." I know it is early, but so far, not so good. I didn't even get into the fact that he had a self-proclaimed homosexual "minister" say a prayer at the swearing in ceremony. A minister who stated he "will not use the Bible as his text, saying:
"While that is a holy and sacred text to me, it is not for many Americans," Robinson said. "I will be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer. This is a prayer for the whole nation."
Are you KIDDING me? A "minister" who says the Bible is a 'holy and sacred text', yet states he will take great pains to not be "especially Christian" in a prayer. Well, we just can't be intolerant of any religion, I guess. Even though Jesus was. He made it very clear, there was only one way to the Father.
I am sure there will be more to come. But in the meantime...
Welcome, Mr. President!

"You knew I was gonna say it...THANK YOU, JESUS!"

Those were Kurt Warner's words right after the Arizona Cardinals won the NFC Championship game tonight and made it to the Superbowl. Here is an excerpt from an interview with him in an old interview with CBN:
When you stand up and say, 'Thank You, Jesus,' they think you are saying, 'Thank You for being here. Thank You for moving my arm forward and making the ball go into that guy's hands so that we could score a touchdown and win the game.' But, in essence, it is a matter of thanking Him for the opportunity, thanking Him for being there in my life, for being the stronghold, for being the focus and the strength to accomplish all things, to accomplish anything, and to be where I am at, to have gone through everything I have gone through. It is a constant thing in my life. It is not just for something specific He did on the football field to help us win; it is for everything that He has done in my life up to that point and for everything He will continue to do in my life from here until eternity.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I am rooting for them to win the superbowl because whoever they play (hopefully Baltimore) will be from "our" (Bengals') division and I can't bring myself to cheer for either team...too much rivalry!!!!
Come on, Baltimore...Pittsburgh CAN'T win 6 Superbowls!!!!!!!!!!

Florida QB makes 'John 3:16' hottest Google search
First of all, Congrats, Gators! (Still think Utah...Even Obama thinks college football needs playoffs! {link})

And sorry, Quinton, about the Tide...better luck next year!

So, if this young man inspired thousands of people to Google John 3:16 last night, I say Hallelujah!

A little something about Tim Tebow:
"By all the measures in college athletics, Tebow stands on top. In addition to winning two national championships, he was the winner of the 2007 Heisman trophy, the first sophomore to take home the award. His shelves are now also lined with the 2008 Wuerffel Trophy, the 2007 and 2008 Maxwell Awards and the 2008 Disney Spirit Award." {link to article}

Protester Calls for Jews to 'Go Back to the Oven' at Anti-Israel Demonstration
This only reinforces a couple of earlier posts HERE and HERE. We need to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. I can't believe what I heard a woman shout at the Israeli contingent across the street in Ft. Lauderdale last week!
(PAUSE PLAYLIST ON RIGHT BEFORE VIEWING VIDEO)
video clip:
See the article at Fox news here: Here is an excerpt:
The unidentified woman, who protest organizers said was a Muslim, wasn't the only protester who raised hackles that day. Other demonstrators held signs that said "Nuke Israel," and a number made comparisons to the Holocaust, accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.
Here is the You Tube link which shows the whole video.
REALLY...UGLY...WORDS...
But is anyone suprised? Israel has always been hated and will continue to be hated until Jesus comes back to fix the mess the world is mired in! (It is PAINFULLY OBVIOUS politicians aren't able to fix it!)

How anyone can watch the news and see that a country the size of 8000 square miles (Israel could fit into the state of Florida 8 times ...click on the link, scroll down and see how it fits into Indiana!) continues to DOMINATE the news and still not believe the Bible, is just beyond me! (Then again, how anyone doesn't believe we are living in the "end time" is beyond me as well.) God has his hand on Israel. But I just wonder what they are going to have to go through this time.
I pray that the United States continues to support Israel. We are pretty much her only friend and ally in the United Nations...I wonder how much longer THAT will hold up!
Now I realize I am not being very tolerant (at least the Palestinians and the rest of the Arab world wouldn't think so!). As the Rev. Ed Bacon of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, Ca. so eloquently said today on Oprah (***stopping to chant "OOOMMMMMMMMMMM" right now***) in defining spirituality...
"It is about our being connected with one another and connected with the cosmos," he says. The Rev. Bacon further says that full, unconditional love is the essence of spirituality. "It's that experience of love that connects you with everyone, connects you with your past, connects you with your future, gives you hope and excitement about going into the next day, going into the next moment." {oprah.com} (He also stated that homosexuality was a gift from God, but that is another post!)
Excuse me? What happened to the name of Jesus Christ? Isn't that how spirituality is defined? Did I miss something? Has the Bible been updated? I must have missed it.

Hang on, Christians...I have a feeling when Jesus said, "You will be despised for my name's sake...", I don't think He was just speaking to the Apostles and/or the Jews...I think anybody who names the name of Jesus will be hated. We are already on the way.

"...Trying to understand the human soul...from the outside, in."

(PAUSE PLAYLIST ON RIGHT BEFORE PLAYING VIDEO)
Has anybody seen this yet?
Freaky. I told Pastor Kris on his last post that I needed to come up with a new invention...This guy beat me to it.
At the end of this video, the commentator says, ..."trying to understand the human soul from the outside, in." I say, what will they try to do next? (Hey, how about we try and build a tower all the way to heaven?)
PS Happy Birthday to ... me. (Is that a weird thing to do on your own blog?). My Mother always told me that when Hank Williams, Sr. died on New Year's Day in 19____ (research needed LOL), that it sent her into labor. I always thought she was only 1/2 kidding when she said it...
