Nothing new under the sun...

"The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." Ecclesiastes 1:9 KJV

This verse came to mind when I read this article entitled "Men's Paris Fashions Blur Gender Boundaries".

Apparently the Christian Dior 2009 Spring - Summer line is full of gender bending fashions. Here is an example:
and this fetching little number: So that made me think that this kind of thing has already been done before as in this:Then again, this "Louie the 14th look" just might have been the height of masculinity in France in the 1600 - 1700s...

What is occupying my mind these days...

...other than the fact that Lauren is moving to Bloomington in a month...has been this

It has taken me about 2 years to finally "embrace" my new job. It was hard for me to go from an 8 year stint as a Pediatric office manager where I was surrounded by people all day, everyday (SCREAMING children, drug reps, irrate parents...you get the picture), to where I just sit in front of a computer ALL DAY LONG. But, the time has finally come for me to buckle down and get my certification.

Needless to say, this summer I will be as busy as a ...

(Sorry if that isn't politically correct anymore. I have a hard time keeping up...)

Recognize these people?

Here is a shot of Jim and I on our way to one of the many fundraising galas we attend throughout the year.

Here is a shot of Jim at his second job. He has been moonlighting for quite awhile now.

I understand the frustration, but is this even legal?

I guess ANYTHING goes out there.

Feel Motivated? How about "De-Motivated"?

You all know those motivational posters we sometimes see in business offices? I found this site for making "de-motivational" posters like these. You find a picture you like from the web and add your own parody slogan. (I have several of these on my slide show screensaver at work and they are always good for a chuckle.)

'Cause somedays you just feel like it...
Have fun...

29 years ago today...

...was a day that I will never forget. My mother died, suddenly and without any warning, from a heart attack, at an age younger than I am now. Every year on June 12th, I am taken back to that day when I lost my "Mommy".

This picture is the only one I could find from that "era"...the 50s, when I was a child. My mother was a praying mother, however our family was far from "the Cleavers", as this picture suggests. Still, to this very day, I miss her and everything that we missed together. She did see me marry, but she never got to hold her granddaugher. Now, as an only child who is the mother of an only child, I wonder how long the Lord will allow me to continue on in this life. I pray that if it is His will, I will one day be able to hold my grandchild. If and when I do, I will be remembering my Mother and know that somehow she is smiling down on us. There are so many things I wish I had had the chance to tell her...mainly that she was RIGHT about so many things! It took me so long to realize that and then it was too late.

Here is a poem I usually read around Mother's Day. It seems appropriate for today...

AT THE GATE

There is a lovely picture that I see,
As clear and clean-cut as a cameo:
My mother, waiting at the gate for me
Long ago:

A picket gate where yellow roses grew,
The scent of plum blooms fragrant on the air;
Bright leaves above her, the sun shining through,
Lighting her hair.

And I am coming down the old home street:
A shaded street where arching maples were,
A little girl on lightly running feet,
Coming to her.

Oh, often now, when weary of the road
That leads me home, I pause and breathe a prayer
That by some gateway at the close of day
She will be there.

Shading her eyes against the heavenly light,
Peering along a heavenly street to see
That she may catch the first, fluttering white
Glimpse of me.

-Grace Noll Crowell

Mainly, I wish I could tell her that since becoming a Mother myself, I FINALLY know how very much she loved me...

Solveig Henderson

I saw this lady for the first time last night on TBN. Her voice sounded so "pure" to me...I kept thinking about it all day at work. I decided to share, for those of you who have never heard of her.
Her website is: www.solveighenderson.com

PS Don't forget to "pause" my playlist over at the side of my blog. I think Third Day would drown out Solveig, which I guess is a pretty common first name in Norway.

ENJOY!!!
