First of all...be sure to pause my playlist over on the right before listening to this song.
This song has always been one of my favorites...not your TYPICAL Christmas carol, however! Here are the lyrics, for those of you who maybe can't understand an old hippie's British accent. LOL You HAD to be there...
"Christmas Song"
Once in Royal David's City stood a lonely cattle shed,
where a mother held her baby.
You'd do well to remember the things He later said.
When you're stuffing yourselves at the Christmas parties,
you'll just laugh when I tell you to take a running jump.
You're missing the point I'm sure does not need making
that Christmas spirit is not what you drink.
So how can you laugh when your own mother's hungry,
and how can you smile when the reasons for smiling are wrong?
And if I just messed up your thoughtless pleasures,
remember, if you wish, this is just a Christmas song.
(Hey! Santa! Pass us that bottle, will you?)

A Christmas Song...AKA Are there any old Jethro Tull fans out there?

Tomorrow is the day...AKA If I don't know it by now...I will never, ever, never know it!
Tomorrow morning I take my test. Finally. Prayers STILL appreciated, however!
As I was taking a break from studying (uh, more like cramming at this point!), Jim told me what he had seen on CNN today. Well, here is the full video, in all its 'glory'...
The devil sure has "them" blinded. (Isn't that what the devil always does...take the Word of God out of context? He doesn't have anything new!) The video says, "Doesn't the bible say these people are an abomination?" We all know the bible says the sin is evil, not the people! Heaven help us and "them". (At least that is what this video portrays...us and them. Say, isn't that an old Pink Floyd song?)
Sorry if this offends anyone...
PAUSE PLAYLIST ON RIGHT FIRST (hmmm...the first song on my playlist is an old Elton John tune...what a coincidence. I love Elton John. I love Ellen. I love all gay people. God does too. But he CANNOT and WILL NOT "wink" at their sin. They need salvation. And that's a fact, Jack Black!)

Thanksgiving post by Jim...AKA "Thanksgiving Remembered"
Jim asked if he could "borrow" my blog today...the following post is by him. I just typed it and applied the pictures:
Thanksgiving just didn't pan out for us this year. Sue had to study for her test, so we told the kids, "no meal this year!". I was thinking since we were not doing a meal that I would go work at the "Lord's Table" (a local shelter) but that didn't work out either. Since Sue was busy studying, I thought, "What can I do today? It is a beautiful day. I got it. HUNTING!" I hadn't hunted in probably 30 years. There's a story here...
I remembered back in time to when I was a kid down in the hills and hollars of Kentucky. I thought about how family got together. How they helped each other and everybody shared what they had. Life was good. Really.
I remembered after the Thanksgiving meal there was a kind of tradition that took place. No, we didn't sit down in front of the TV and watch the football game. Heck, nobody had a TV! We didn't even have electricity and I ain't so sure football was even invented yet. It was after all, Kentucky. You know, quoting Mark Twain, "If I knew for sure the world was going to end, I'd go to KY. It would be another 20 years till it happened there."
Back to tradition. After the meal the men would all go hunting. My Dad never hunted because he was crippled. He walked around OK...just couldn't go up and down the hills very well.
My Dad was a godly man, always sitting around reading the Bible. He would even take a swing at you with it, if he thought it was justified and it usually was. He was a good man. He helped everybody. A great role model. Maybe someday I'll be like him. (A ton of other memories flood in right now. Maybe other stories for other times...)
Hunting...My uncle Jess would lead the band of hunters as we went off on our expedition. Now Uncle Jess was a big man, 6'7", maybe 6'8". BIG man. He had a way about him when he was around, kinda intimidating. You just felt like when Uncle Jess was present that you best be doing something...anything. Just not standing there. He was really a kind and gentle man. We hunted rabbit and quail, mostly. Back then there was good hunting. Plenty of habitat then. Mostly gone now. Uncle Jess taught us kids how to hunt rabbit with a 22 cal. rifle. You walk, you jump the rabbit, he runs 20 -30 yards, stops, looks around and you "plink" him. He then becomes part of a fried rabbit, mashed potato and gravy dinner. MMMMMM
Fast forward to 2008. Yep, I am going hunting. Leaf hunting. Don't laugh! There's more to it than some people think. First, there is a hunting season...fall. You can't hunt them in the winter because they are mostly gone...migrated, I guess. You can't hunt them in the spring because they are too little. In the summer, they are all up in the trees.
Fall! That's the season! They are usually all on the ground by then and they are everywhere. Easy pickins.
The weapon of choice is usually a rake. Some people use a blower, but they just scatter everywhere. Rake works best. You will also need BIG plastic garbage bags. The process is easy. You find 'em, corral them up in a pile, so they can't go anywhere. Then you bag 'em and head home. Kinda like snipe hunting. Another story.
Unlike some critters that have a bag limit, not so with leaves. Bag all you want! If you don't have enough, bag your neighbor's. They don't care. All in all, I had a good day of hunting. I bagged 30 bags of leaves. Not bad, huh? You probably wouldn't believe me, but I have the pictures to prove it.
By the way. A couple things to mention: I hunt with a dog and that's an option. Another thing, don't take the kids. They hate it.
HAPPY HUNTING!
AFTER THE HUNT:

SUE'S THANKSGIVING DAY: (notice the look of total confusion)

COVER OF A MAGAZINE SUE GOT YESTERDAY: (how appropriate; she looks as confused as me!)

New Indianapolis Airport... AKA Let's ALL Soak Our Feet
(Be sure to pause my playlist over on the right first!)
Lauren dropped Mark off today at the new Indianapolis Airport. It reminded me of this. What next?
Do most airports have chapels or Catholic holy water fonts? If these foot baths were routinely used to perform Christian baptisms, would they then be removed?
Give me a break...Call me intolerant if you must, but I see NO parity here.

Thank you, Pastor Kris...
...for today's sermon. I don't know about anybody else, but I needed to hear it and it blessed me. Once again, a spot on sermon. Thanks for bringing prayer, and our prayer life, into better perspective.
Here are some images to go with the message.
This is how most of us start out...in total faith and trust:

Hopefully, it carries over into our teens:

again, hopefully young families will stress the importance of prayer to their children:

Sometimes we are lucky enough to be able to pray at work: (and look how THAT turned out...Colts' locker room, February 4, 2007)

We have to pray in FAITH, believing...

We need to pray as Jesus did...that the Father's will be done:

Lord, teach us all to be prayer warriors:

Hopefully, our prayer life doesn't look like this:

How about you? What is the desire of your heart that you are praying for? Who or what are YOU praying for today? (Unfortunately, Amy doesn't like to have her picture taken...)

Ruby, too!!!
Co-workers:

Our church families...
Our leaders:

Our world: (This picture haunted me when I first saw it. I have had it saved for a long time...I am just now able to use it. WARNING, it is disturbing.)

Thank you God, for the awesome privilege of being able to bring our hearts' desires and burdens before Your throne. And please bless Pastor Kris as he boldly proclaims your word: (Sorry, PK...I wasn't able to save the nice picture of you from your blog homepage...it was either this one, or the one of you in a hammock in Jamaica! LOL)

Hope you all have a blessed Sunday.
PS. I would appreciate any and all prayers for my upcoming certification test...which I have to get back to!
